Why Real balk at Tottenham ‘Kane gift’ because of ‘163.8 billion disaster’
Tottenham Hotspur have made a counter-offer for Harry Kane to Real Madrid, but Real are not rushing to sign him.
“Kane will not accompany Tottenham,” Spain’s Cadena Ser reported on Friday. If a good offer arrives, Tottenham will let him leave and will accept a sale this year because he will be a free agent next year. In addition, Kane has been offered to Real,” the report said.
It’s a shocking report. Kane has been Tottenham until this season. In 434 games for Spurs, Kane has scored 278 goals and provided 64 assists for the team’s offense. Even this season, he’s been the lone bright spot for a struggling Spurs team with 30 goals and five assists in 48 games.
The end is coming. Kane hasn’t won a single trophy in his time at Tottenham. Considering he’s a three-time Premier League (EPL) top scorer, seven-time EPL Player of the Month, and five-time Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Team of the Year, that’s a pretty shabby record.
This is where the Manchester United transfer rumors come in. The Red Devils have rebuilt their reputation under Eric ten Haag this season, winning the English Football League Cup (EFL Cup), reaching the English FA Cup final, and proving that they can win titles. It’s a perfect fit for Kane, who is looking to break the EPL record for most goals scored (260, Kane’s 211) and stay relevant.
From Tottenham’s perspective, it’s a no-brainer. Selling their best striker to a domestic league rival is both a leak and a boost to their opponents.
Hence the attempted Real counteroffer. It’s the next best thing to a Man United transfer. Real are looking for a striker to fill the gap between 35-year-old 안전놀이터Karim Benzema and 16-year-old Endrik. They are looking to sign Elling Holland in 2024, but it’s unclear what Holland’s intentions are.
Adding Jude Bellingham to the mix is also a key factor. According to Spain’s Football España, “Bellingham is set to move to Madrid. A new striker will also be sought, and Bellingham could join his international teammate at Real.”
“The main points in favor of Real are goals, quality and the arrival of an English teammate who can help Bellingham with his new team when he arrives,” said Cadena Ser, adding that the signing of Kane could help Bellingham land in Madrid.
Still, there’s a catch. The transfer fee. “Tottenham are likely to demand at least €100 million for Kane, even though his contract expires in 2024,” says Football España. That’s a lot of money for Real to pay for a 29-year-old with five years left in his prime.”
Of course, Kane is worth €100 million. But the ‘failure story’ is making Real hesitate. Real paid €115 million for Eden Hazard from Chelsea in 2019. The Santiago Bernabeu was rocked by the arrival of a crack in the EPL.
Now it’s a disaster. Since joining Real, Azpilicueta has been plagued by a series of injuries and poor form that have left him unable to fulfill his potential at Chelsea. Even this season, Azpilicueta has started just four games in all competitions (10 in all competitions), with a meager stat line of one goal and two assists.
“Real have doubts about whether the EPL veteran’s form will translate to Spain, and recent bad signings have sent him down the wrong path,” said Cadena Ser, adding that Azaar’s example is one of the reasons why Real are hesitant to sign Kane despite Tottenham’s counter-offer.
