South Korean players all out, LPGA Match Players struggle to get by

South Korean golfers have suffered a setback at the U.S안전놀이터. Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour’s Bank of Hope Match Play ($1.5 million purse).

Kim Se-young (KOR) drew with Cheyenne Knight (USA) in the third round of Group 13 on the third day of the tournament at Shadow Creek Golf Club (Par 72, 6,804 yards) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. With one win, one draw and one loss, Kim failed to advance to the round of 16 after being edged out by Knight, who had two wins and one draw.

Lee cruised to a tie for first place in the group through the second round of play, but was swept by Brooke Henderson (CAN). After falling four holes short to Henderson, Lee finished with a 1-1-1 record and was edged out of the round of 16 by Sophia Schubert (USA), who finished with a 2-1-1 record.

In Group 7, Shin Ji-Eun also suffered a setback. She defeated Linea Strom (SWE) to go 2-1 on the day, but was edged out by Riona Maguire (3-1). Last year’s winner of the event, Jihee Jeon, was also eliminated in Group 8 with a 1-2 loss to Lynn Grant (SWE).

In Group 15, Hae-Ran Kim (KOR) won her Korean head-to-head by three holes to go 2 and 1, but it was Lindsey Weaver Wright (USA) who punched her ticket to the Round of 16 with two wins and a draw.

With this, both Korean players failed to advance to the round of 16. Meanwhile, Korean-American Allison Lee (USA) advanced to the Round of 16 with a 1 win and 2 draws in Group 5.
