Qatar, which hosted the soccer World Cup, embraces men’s basketball
Qatar, which hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will now host the Men’s Basketball World Cup, which will be held four years later.
The official account of the International Basketball크크크벳 Federation (FIBA) World Cup announced on the 28th (local time) that “FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will be held in Doha, Qatar.”
In addition, FIBA announced on its official website that “Doha, Qatar, the most connected destination in the world, provides the best service to visitors with metro and public transportation. All stadiums used for men’s national team matches have already been built.” and reported the status.
A total of 32 countries will participate in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Likewise, the Soccer World Cup, which was available for 32 countries until last year, will increase to 48 countries from 2026.
The Basketball World Cup is also held every four years, just like football. The women’s tournament was held in Australia last year, and the men’s World Cup is co-hosted by Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia this year.
As a result, the Men’s World Cup will be held in Asia for the third time in a row, following China in 2019 and Japan, Philippines and Indonesia in 2023.
Meanwhile, Qatar will host the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup in January 2024 and also hosted the 2030 Summer Asian Games.
