Korea Olympic Team to compete against Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan and Qatar in Group B of the U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers—September Group B matches to be held in Korea
Hwang Sun-hong’s Olympic team will face Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan and Qatar in the 2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers in September.
The Korea Football Association announced on Friday that it will host the Group B matches of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur메이저놀이터, Malaysia. The venue and specific kick-off time are yet to be determined. The national team was placed in Group B alongside Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan and Qatar.
A total of 43 teams participated in the qualifiers, with each of the 10 groups from A to J having four teams. Only Group K has three teams competing. A total of 16 teams will qualify for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, including the top 11 teams from each group, the top four teams from each group, and hosts Qatar. Hosts Qatar will also compete in the qualifiers in Group B, but their matches will be considered friendlies and the results will not affect their ranking.
The 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup will be held in Qatar from April 15-May 3, 2024. The tournament will also serve as a men’s soccer qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with the top three teams qualifying directly to the Olympic Games. The fourth-placed team will play a playoff against the fourth-placed team from the African qualifiers for the Olympic berth. South Korea won the tournament in Thailand in 2020.
It will be the first time in six years that South Korea has hosted a qualifier for an AFC-organized event, with the 2017 AFC U-19 Championship qualifier being held in Paju. It is the first time the country has hosted an U-23 Asian Cup qualifier.
