Kim Kwang-hyun tears up after season-high 7 runs allowed by KIA bats…Yang Hyun-jong has no excuse

SSG Landers ace Kim Kwang-hyun suffered his worst outing of the season. Against his best friend Yang Hyun-jong of the Kia Tigers, he hung his head in shame.

Kim Kwang-hyun took the mound against the KIA Tigers in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Saturday, giving up seven runs on eight hits, two walks, three home runs and one strikeout in 4 1/3 innings.

It didn’t start out badly. In the top of the first inning, Kim Do-young singled to lead off the inning, but when Na Sung-bum came to bat, SSG catcher Lee Jae-won caught Kim’s attempted steal of second base. Na Sung-bum was also caught on an infield grounder to end the first inning without a run.

However, the KIA bats started to struggle in the second inning. After giving up a leadoff solo home run to Choi Hyung-woo, Lee Chang-jin singled, stole second, and then gave up an RBI double to Kim Tae-gun to make it 1-2.메이저사이트

After striking out three KIA batters in the top of the third inning, the team seemed to have stabilized, but things got shaky in the top of the fourth. After a leadoff walk to Choi Hyung-woo and a single to Hwang Dae-in, Lee Chang-jin was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Kim Kwang-hyun then gave up a single to Kim Tae-gun, a double to Kim Kyu-sung, and a single to Park Chan-ho to score four runs in quick succession. They were fortunate to get out of the next two and a half innings without giving up any more runs.

Kim Kwang-hyun took the mound in the top of the fifth, but gave up another solo home run to leadoff hitter Choi Hyung-woo. He was replaced by Noh Kyung-eun one out later and finished the game.

Kim threw 94 pitches on the day, including a fastball that touched 151 kilometers per hour and a slider, his main weapon, along with a changeup and curveball. Although he appeared to be in good shape, he struggled with his command and gave up the most runs in a single game this season.

On May 9, he faced Yang Hyeon-jong in another start against KIA (a six-inning, three-run loss), but was unsuccessful. Yang Hyun-jong earned the win with five innings and one run before being pulled in the bottom of the sixth inning to start the defense.

At the end of the sixth inning, with the SSG offense still in progress, KIA had a huge lead of 7-1.
