Gimcheon hires Jung Jung-yong as head coach…debut on June 4

Jeong Jung-yong has been named the new head coach of the Gimcheon Sangmu professional soccer team.

Gimcheon Sangmu has appointed Jung as its second head coach. Chung was the head coach of the U-20 national team in 2019, leading the team to its first-ever runner-up finish at a FIFA-organized tournament in men’s soccer. He also led Seoul Eiland for three seasons from November 2019 to the end of 2022.

With Cho Young-wook, the U-20 runner-up, and U-20 national team players Lee Ji-sol, Uhm Won-sang and Jeong Ho-jin on the first list of the ’23 Second National Armed Forces Athletes (Byeong)’ list, it is expected that Jeong will once again have a synergistic안전놀이터 effect on the team.

Sung Han-soo, who served as head coach for the first half of the 2023 season, will return as assistant coach and assist Jung alongside the existing coaches.

Jung said, “I’m taking over in the middle of the season, so I have a lot of responsibility. I will do my best as a coach to achieve the K League 2 championship and K League 1 promotion that all fans are looking forward to.”

Gimcheon Sangmu head coach Jung Jung-yong will take charge of the team on June 1 and will make his managerial debut on June 4 against Jeonnam Dragons.
