‘Comprehensive set of crimes’ Yang Jin Ho gets two more years in prison for embezzlement…final sentence?

Former Korea Future Technology chairman Yang Jin-ho, who has been in the public eye for assaulting employees, distributing illegal pornography, and abusing drugs, has been sentenced to two years in prison for embezzlement.

The former chairman, who owns web hosting companies WeDisk and FileNori, is currently serving a five-year prison sentence for assault. Given that he is currently on trial for mass illegal distribution of pornography, his sentence could be extended.

According to legal circles, the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division 1 recently confirmed the original sentence of two years in prison for Yang, who was charged with violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Certain Economic Crimes (embezzlement). Mr. Yang’s wife, Ms. Lee Ah-moo-gae, who was tried alongside him, was also sentenced to two years and four months in prison, suspended for four years.

Yang was accused of personally using funds from Wydisc, a company in which he held a 99 percent stake, for his own personal use토토사이트. Between January and May 2019, he conspired with Wydisc CEO Kim Ah-moo-gae to lend $9.25 billion in company funds to Lee without collateral on seven occasions.

The loans were made with no collateral and only a joint and several guarantee from Yang. Mr. Lee allegedly used the funds to pay for his and Mr. Yang’s legal fees and living expenses related to the investigation and trial, and to pay for his children’s education and child support.

This brings Yang’s final sentence to seven years. He was previously sentenced to five years in prison for an assault and battery case. Yang’s abuses came to light in 2018 when police launched an investigation after a video surfaced of him indiscriminately assaulting an employee in his office.

The investigation revealed that Yang repeatedly assaulted employees who left the company, injected drugs into the arms of his romantic partners, and assaulted them. In some cases, he fired or reduced pay for not washing lettuce, and force-fed employees pills, raw garlic, and hot sauce.

He also wrote his name in lipstick on female employees’ bodies and took pictures of them, and took them to his villa to force them to beat live chickens with a Japanese sword or shoot them with a bow. He was also accused of spying on more than 70 employees through a self-developed smartphone eavesdropping program.

Yang’s final sentence could increase in the future. He is also currently on trial for illegal video distribution. In January, Yang was sentenced to five years in prison in the first phase of that trial, which is currently under appeal.

Yang is accused of systematically aiding and abetting the distribution of sexually exploitative material while operating web hosting companies such as WeDisc and FileNori between 2015 and 2019, earning profits worth 35 billion won. If the sentence is upheld in this trial, Yang’s sentence is expected to increase to 12 years.
