14 new players have boarded the opening entry for the 2023 Korean Professional Baseball KBO League.
The KBO released the names of 280 people in the first team entry on the afternoon of the 31st, the day before the opening of the regular season.
Lotte outfielders Kim Min-seok, 5th pick Lee Rowun, 6th pick Kim Gun-hee, and 8th pick Lee Ho-seong, who were selected as the 3rd overall pick in the first round of the rookie draft, succeeded in entering the first team at the same time as the opening.
Overall, Hanwha Kim Seo-hyun, who is ranked first, plans to come up to the first team after improving her pitch in the Futures League.
2nd place KIA Yoon Yeong-cheol was dropped as the 5th starter and registered in the 1st team on the pitching day.
SSG pitcher Song Young-jin, Kiwoom catcher Kim Dong-heon, infielder Lee Seung-won, LG pitcher Park Myung-geun, KT infielder Ryu Hyun-in and Son Min-seok, KIA pitcher Kwak Do-gyu, Lotte pitcher Lee Jin-ha, outfielder Kim Min-seok, and Hanwha infielder Moon Hyun-bin were also selected for the opening entry through competition.
There were 11 new players included in the opening roster last year.
Most of the key players on each team were named in the opening roster, as expected.
Yang Eui-ji will play the opening match as a ‘Doosan catcher’ in 5 years since 2018.
Yang Eui-ji, who started his professional life at Doosan, signed a free agent contract with NC in 2019.
Yang Eui-ji, who obtained FA status again after 4 years안전놀이터, returned to Doosan with a 6-year, 15.2 billion won super-large contract.
Lee Tae-yang, who signed a FA contract with his parent team, was also registered as an opening entry for Hanwha after 3 years since 2020.
Lotte catcher Yoo Gang-nam, LG catcher Park Dong-won, NC catcher Park Se-hyuk, Hanwha outfielder Chae Eun-seong, Lotte infielder Noh Jin-hyuk, and KT infielder Kim Sang-soo were also included in the opening entry.
However, at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, LG finisher Ko Woo-seok, who felt discomfort in his shoulder, and KIA outfielder Na Seong-beom, who suffered a calf injury after returning to his team, were omitted from the opening entry.
Among the foreign players, Doosan Dylan Pyle, who is recovering from a ball hit during the spring camp, SSG Annie Romero, who felt shoulder pain, and NC Taylor Widener, who felt discomfort in his back, will welcome the opening in the rehabilitation group.
KT Bossulseo also fell out of the opening entry, but he plans to register for the 1st team according to the pitching schedule.
